In this work the results of research of land tenure on territory of the Republic of Moldova are during 1812-2008. For the realization of the given work numerous cartographical materials (topographical maps, space pictures and cadastral plans of some communes), the statistical data (the ground cadastre of the Republic of Moldova) and numerous works with retrospective character where land use during the various periods is mentioned have been used.
Land use represents a direction of Geography of agriculture, in part and Geography of settlements which studies ways of use of a certain territory depending on natural and economic conditions. The basic categories of land use in the republic are agricultural land in whose structure arable land prevails. A much smaller area of other categories in the agricultural land – refer to pastures, gardens and vineyards and not agricultural land – woods, the grounds under water, roads, constructions and the other grounds.
On the basis of applying GIS technologies and statistical methods of calculation it was possible to present a real picture of land use in the republic. The done work has allowed us to make comparative, tis land time analysis of evolution of the basic categories of land use, and also to put forward some offers on land management. For this purpose the degree of security by ground resources and the factor of ecological land stability have been calculated. For deepening given researche situational analysis has been made in some selective communes. They have allowed to specify the intensity of land tenure and land condition. For each investigated commune concrete measures on land management have been offered.
The basic offered recommendations concern farmland – reduction of the area of an arable land, expansion of the area of pastures gardens and vineyards, performance of works on land management (consolidation land, antierosion arrangement, etc.). For the improvement of the ecological land condition tis necessary to expand the area of woods, pastures and water basins. They possess a greater ecological stability in comparison with the arable land.
Key words: land use, ground fund, a ground cadastre, agricultural land, an arable land, gardens and vineyards, pastures, not agricultural land, land management, ecological stability land.
