Structure of the thesis: This paper consists of an annotation (in 3 languages), an introduction, 3 chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, 243 bibliographic sources, 8 annexes, 156 pages of text, 25 tables and 41 diagrams. The results are published in eight scientific papers.
The purpose of the research is to identify the level of development of social intelligence in early adolescence; to study both its peculiarities depending on the gender, the family type and the interdependence of social intelligence and personality traits, family psychological climate as well as to determine the psychological conditions of development of social intelligence in adolescents. Research objectives: analysis and systematization of the conceptual aspects of social intelligence in order to conduct an experimental study on the development of social intelligence in adolescence; identify the level of development of social intelligence in adolescence; determine the influence of gender differences on social intelligence in adolescence; identify the peculiarities of social intelligence of adolescents depending on the types of family; identify the relationship of interdependence between social intelligence and family climate; study the association between the level of social intelligence and personality traits; develop and apply a psychological intervention program aimed at development of social intelligence in adolescence; draw conclusions and recommendations for teachers, psychologists and parents regarding optimization of social intelligence development.
The scientific novelty and originality consists in the fact that it is the first time when the psychological construction of social intelligence is studied at the national level, the development of social intelligence in adolescence is identified according to the gender and family type, the relationship between social intelligence, personality traits and family climate. The intervention program allowed the development social intelligence in participants and had a positive impact on the development of adolescents’ personality traits.
The obtained research results contributing to solving an important scientific problem consist in studying the peculiarities of social intelligence depending on the gender, the family type and the interdependence between social intelligence on the one hand, and personality traits and family climate, on the other. This allowed the development and implementation of a psychological intervention program aimed at development of social intelligence in adolescents having an effect on optimization of their personalities. The theoretical significance of the study lies in unifying the various defining approaches of research of social intelligence, clarifying the theoretical framework for social intelligence versus similar concepts (emotional, interpersonal, practical intelligence), formulating its complex definition, and elucidating the functions and components of development of social intelligence in adolescence from the perspective of integrative psychology.
The practical value of the paper consists in the fact that the results create the fundamentals for a guidance book of good practices by elaborating, implementing and validating the psychological intervention program in order to increase the social intelligence in adolescents, facilitate the performance of interpersonal relations, thus contributing to efficient integration and adaptation of adolescents.
Implementation of the research results. The results of this study are used in training and professional education of psychologists at the School of Psychology and Special Educational Psychology of “Ion Creangă” State Pedagogical University, within the courses of Developmental and Educational Psychology. The thesis is a significant contribution to the enrichment of the national scientific literature in psychology and it is used in the psychological counselling activity at such institutions as the Placement Centre for Children without Parental Care and the Social Residence of “Regina Pacis” Foundation.
